Prisoner of War records now available

Prisoner of War Records from the First and Second World Wars have now been released into the public domain.

Researchers of the wars and Family History will be pleased to hear that records relating to Prisoners of War have now been released. Accessible via Ancestry.com – which is free to access via Keighley Library.

For people with a general interest in Prisoners of War or the Two World Wars there are items relating to the infamous Colditz Castle and well known PoW’s such as Douglas Bader.

Within the Keighley and District area there are already well documented and accessible materials about many local servicemen who became Prisoners of War. These can be found via this page of the Men of Worth project. The archives on Ancetry.com will enable local people to use information found on Men of Worth, or through their Family history research, to access and download records relating to their family, providing a unique record of their families past.

The records cover British POW’s from all theatres of war in both the First and Second World Wars.
